My favorite part of this restaurant is that it's in a grand Victorian house. The details are still in place, including fireplaces. At the same time, the place is a little bit scruffy--which I really like.
For our entrees, I had the seared salmon, which was good. My friend had the chicken, which he said was excellent. I'll try the chicken next time. -

My ladies and I came to DC from New York City, Atlanta and Boston to enjoy a lovely birthday dinner. The ambiance was wonderful and cozy, however shortly after placing our order, we unfortunately saw a large rat.
We immediately left the premises.
I will give this restaurant a Zero. -

Haven't been to Floriana in years and decided to check it out again. Overall the food was ok. The Caesar salad was very small for $11. We had the Maryland Crab Ravioli and the Duck Carbonara both of which were good but nothing outstanding.
Wine was half off bottles, regular Sunday night special which was nice.
I would highly recommend not sitting outside as we got eaten alive by mosquitoes. They have a nice patio but really need to do something and treat for mosquitoes. They had a can of spray so they clearly know it's an issue and they even brought a candle but it did nothing (not sure it was even citronella.) -

I really wanted to like this place based on the stellar reviews. The service was good. Unfortunately we didn't like the food. It tasted bland. We noticed an odd odor near our seat and asked to change tables. The waiter was very accommodating. I just don't see us returning.

I've been wanting to try out Floriana ever since I moved into DC proper. We ended up coming in for brunch on a really hot day, and decided to split the gnocchi, and then order our own benedicts. DEFINITELY no regrets!
Gnocchi
The gnocchi was amazing - soft pillowy heaven! The sauce was really buttery and smooth, and the perfect amount of cheese and tomato. I'm definitely going to get this every time I come here - there's no beating homemade gnocchi.
Benedicts
We got the proscuito and the smoked salmon (Norwegian) Benedicts with a side of salad, and they were also scrumptious. The salmon one came with toasted capers on top (I've never tried them toasted!) and had just the right amount of hollandaise sauce.
Bottomless Mimosas or Bloody Mary for Brunch
Yes, they do go all the way for their brunch! We didn't partake this time because we had somewhere to go afterwards, but nice to know!
Service
Service was great- staff was polite and helpful. On a hot day, we were never without water.
Ambiance
Loved the simple yet elegant setting. You can definitely dress up for a date here, or be more casual for brunch with friends.
Final Verdict
One of the best gnocchi I've tried in DC. I want to return for dinner sometime to sample other plates.
